Supporting Women at Work
Argan Oil is extracted from the kernels of the Argania spinosa tree which grows almost exclusively in southwestern Morocco. Because of overgrazing of goats and the harvesting of wood by the local population, argan trees are today an endangered and protected species making its oil one of the rarest in the world. Under the protection of UNESCO and the Berbers (the indigenous people of Morocco), a global market has developed to share this wonderful oil with the world while protecting the trees and providing a sustainable economy for the local population. Our argan oil is produced by a women’s cooperative that shares the profits among the local women of the Berber tribe.
